AZL LAYOUT - WEST OF CALIENTE - (Karl is in the middle) Karl Sinn has build a layout for AZL - so that the AZL Gems can be presented in a prototypical way. He has a lot of excellent pictures about this layout on his web page. Here is the link: www.spur-z-atelier.de/messestand-und-anlage/Enjoy! Best, Sven

That is correct. The whole story of "West of Caliente" will be found on our main web site later this Fall. Picking design elements from the stretch between Bakersfield and Tehachapi the layout can handle 4 train sets. Since it is Oslo, Norway based it will travel to select shows in Europe, the first being Altenbeken next April.

Seems to me it's about time to start a Caliente thread.
Of course Hans you know that now AZL will just have to produce the SP San Joaquin and ATSF's San Francisco Chief. Even the California Zephyr was known to take this route from time to time.

Since the first daylight train with the legendary GS-4449 is already on the layout.............. Best, Sven

Sven,
Being a native of California (the world's 6th largest economy) I always like to see us promoted.
I do have to ask: since you are modeling the Bakersfield area does it include Pixley, the real life town on the SP track made "famous" in TV's "Petticoat Junction" and "Green Acres"?
