And so the Fun Begins Today I started building my next module or should I say 3 modules. The goal is to build a 90* corner using 3 modules to make it easier to transport to Shows. Each end module will be 2'-0" wide, 6'-0" at the long point. with one end cut square @ 90* and the other end will be cut at a 22.5* angle. The middle section will be 2'-0" wide, 4'-0" long at the longest point with both ends cut at 22.5* angles. When placed in the corner of a room each end/leg of the 90 will be 2'-0" wide and extend 8'-11 3/4" from the wall. If I did all the math and calculations correct This should allow for plenty of operating fun at home yet be portable and mate up with the Z-bend standard modules at the shows.
The right end Module
Yes the last foot of the right end module is 2 inches taller than the rest of it, The left end module will be the same. This will allow me to extend the scenery below the rails to create valleys, low lying fields and such. The Middle
and the right and middle together
Tomorrows goal is to finished assembling the Left end module, Add folding legs to all 3 and give everything a coat of paint.

Update Last weekend I decided to re-design the Legs for the modules. My First design was a bit bulky and wobbly. I wanted something that would work at home and at shows. Which meant it had to be Light Weight, Quick and Easy to setup, and Take down, yet be nice and sturdy. Today I Got the first set built and am very happy with the results. I started by making 2 sets of legs out of 1x2's (Legs) and used some 1/4 x 3" strips (Spreaders) one with 22-1/2 inch spreaders the other with 16-1/2 spreaders. I also cut Dados in the legs so that the spreaders sat flush which really helps keep them ridged and Square. I then drilled 1/4" holes in one end of the 1x2's centered 2-1/2 inches from the end on the wide set. I made some matching holes at one end of the module on either side 3/4" up from the bottom edge. Using 1/4" bolts and fender washers as spacers I bolted them together creating a hinged set of legs that fits snugly in the bottom of the module when folded. I then added a small block of 1x2 to the in side of the module to prevent the legs from opening more than 90* For the other end I used a piano hinge one side of the hinge was attached to one of the cross braces and the other to the middle of a 15" 1x4 I then screwed the smaller set of legs to the 1x4. By placing the Hinge on the middle of the 1x4 it works the same as the 2 small blocks on the other side preventing the legs from opening more than 90* When folded the smaller set folds down first and sits inside and under the larger set. They both fold flat with the bottom of the module for easy transport. When open the legs fold down from opposite directions till they hit their respective stop blocks Which makes for a very sturdy stable module. Quick Easy Compact Lightweight and Sturdy Mission accomplished David
