The effects are achieved with decoders of Digitrax and Tran / CT electronics.

That is beautiful. The ditch lights are fascinating. I also would learn how you did the lighting.
I have digitalized a Marklin SP E9A with the TCS AZL4 decoder. The light circuit board had to be separated electrically from the chassis halves and connected to the plus pad and to one of the function pad of the decoder. A second LED 0805 was added to the light circuit board to have the two headlights separately illuminated. The LED was connected to the other function pad with 1.64 kOhm (2 x 820 Ohm).

Hi Guys, I have not replaced the original board, but the LEDs and capacitors and resistors for the motor, if any, removed. The resistors for the original LEDs have been preserved. At the light front, the lower the headlight E8 / 9, F3, connected with the SD70 and F59PHI the headlight. At the light behind the upper headlight at E8 / 9, F3 and F59, the two red taillights. When the original SD70 LED was left. When E8 / 9 and F3 LED 402 is directly adhered to the light guide of the lower headlamp. At the upper headlights a LED 1206. In the F59 to the main headlights, an LED 1206, provided at the rear lights each one red LED 603 or 402. The ditch lights of SD70 were drilled with a 0.5 mm drill bit and with a 0.5 mm plastic fiber optics , At this, the LEDs 402 are directly adhered. The lead wires were led through the front apron and the SMD resistors type 603 adhered to the staircases on the left and right. In the SD70, the decoder DCX74z, or DCX76z of CT electronics are installed. In the E8 / 9 of DZ126 Digitrax and the F59PHI the DCX74z, or DCX76z. In Cabcar the DCX33. in SD70 of Headlight has also been replaced with 0.5mm light guide.

Thanks, z220:
This is great stuff!
This could move Z scale to center stage ...of the model train hobby.
Thank you, again

Hello friends, I have equipped the modern GE and EMD locomotives with the new decoder from ESU (Lokpilot Nano Standard 53661). The advantage of the decoder is the complete wiring of all ports, so that the decoder no soldering as CT / Tran are necessary. He also has the ability to generate a three-light peak signal and press the F2 function key, the flashing Ditchlights, for 5 sec, trigger. However, he can not do a Rule 17 light function. Furthermore, I have extended my test circuit by a speed measuring section. In the new program version of JMRI a speedometer is included. I built the track with a DS64 and BD4 from Digitrax. Is very helpful in adjusting the locomotive speed of the various locomotives.
Mit besten Grüßen Peter
