Are these new units compatible with the previous SD70 engines to run in tandem?

My initial tests indicate DC performance of the ACe is similar to the "2nd run" SD70s, although you'd want to run the SD70ACe as the lead unit: it looks funny to see trailing units with ditch lights.

The BNSF SD70ACes are back in stock. We have alerted dealers that they can be ordered again.

I noticed they were already sold out of the NS heritage Reading. ZscaleMonster was still showing the Reading available. I love Santa Fe but have never been a fan of the BNSF pumpkins, so just a heads-up for others.

I'm being told that theses are sold out again. I'm not seeing them and my preferred dealer claims they were never available for them to order. What the heck is going on here?

Here's the email from US Z Scale I received at 7:30pm yesterday.
"A Few Additional BNSF SD70ACe Locos Now Available!
We just received word from AZL Distribution that a small number of additional BNSF SD70ACe locos are available! These were sold out less than a week ago, almost as soon as they were initially released.
We don't expect these to last long, so this is your change to pick up one of these beauties now. Road numbers #9330 and #9334 are available!"
Their website say "sold out." Either they haven't updated things or they sold out again very quickly.

Here's the latest from US Z Scale.
"BNSF SD70ACe Locos.. SOLD OUT... AGAIN!!!
The new BNSF SD70ACe locos have been incredibly popular and as a result, the few additional locos that were made available yesterday (Monday, May 2) have again quickly sold out... in about 30 minutes!
Sorry to those folks who wanted to get one of these stunning locos and missed out, but we're told there will be another BNSF release before the end of the year, I believe a slightly newer version of the SD70ACe.
When there's a release like this, I'm hesitant to say something like "Buy now before they're all gone!", kind of like a realtor telling you to "Buy now" because someone else is looking to buy that same house.
In this case, LOTS of people were looking at this same house."

Needless to say, we are very happy with the new SD70ACe locomotives. But we underestimated demand, something we usually have not done. As communicated earlier we have also made a version of the BNSF with the current safety cab. This version has not been released yet, but the good news is that AZL is accelerating the introduction to this side of the Summer. (Roadnumbers 8768 and 8773)

I can't tell you how disgusted I am with this sellout. I've bought virtually every single type of engine you have released in the last two years. I have engines that I don't really need or that really go with the theme of my layout. Yet when you actually release something I want, I get cut out of the action, and not for lack of trying. So if you think that playing the "limited release - buy em now or miss out" game is going to get you more orders, then you will have to do it without me. Thankfully I model in HO primarily and can spend my dollars there. I'm out.

Needless to say, we are very happy with the new SD70ACe locomotives.. It's a sweet loco, Hans. Love the ditch lights and really glad AZL chose to do the Heritage units. I also like the subscription plan. I would have tried to purchase all of the NS Heritage locos, regardless, but the subscription approach puts it on "autopilot" for me, without missing out. Thanks!

Tim I apologize that you were cut out. As Hans stated, we underestimate demand. These were not produced in fewer numbers than past runs. It is just the SD70ACes are much more popular than we anticipated. Hans mentioned above that we are releasing another BNSF version with the isolated cab. Contact me offline and I will be happy to reserve these for you and take care of of the order through AZL direct. My email address is rob@ztrack.com

No offense, but just because I have spent thousands of dollars on Z, doesn't mean I want to pay $10 to 25 more for each engine on top of your double the cost shipping charges. If I can't get one through my preferred vendors than I will just miss out. Frankly I don't understand why you are in competition with your dealers anyway unless it's to engineer more sales for AZL Direct.
