Rob, Thanks for the link. I love a story that ends: NO...probably not...I think. Mark, At one point fairly early in its existence, Amtrak published a stipulation that all equipment that was owned by other railroads and/or privately owned and would be operated as part of the consist of an Amtrak train, was to be painted in an Amtrak Striped Paint Scheme to better "blend-in" with Amtrak equipment. Many, but not all, railroads complied and many PV owners complied. The edict was relatively, quickly (within a year or two) and quietly dropped. You can find quite a few photo examples of privately or contract carrier (host railroad) owned equipment so painted. My earlier answer was specific to Amtrak owned equipment. Sorry if it was misleading. Regards, Cliff It's a bit complicated as you can see - and now you know why I said, "no, probably not, maybe" In any case, it is sufficiently unusual for a Heavyweight to be painted in Amtrak colors that we decided that a full factory production run was not justified, so I stopped my research at that. If you are interested, it would clearly make a cool re-paint job! Power to the modelers. -Rob(A) AZL
