Azl, full throttle and intermountain are always harder to find because of the quality of the rolling stock, and upgrading MTL rolling stock to metal wheels demands an additional investment... Even used AZL rolling stock costs almost the same price on ebay as new... And yes harder to find, try just finding canadian stock..

Used Z scale is like domestic 4x4 crew cab pick ups. It holds its value too well for cheap me lol.
Somewhat off topic but last two times I went out to buy a pick up so I could haul both a car seat and some dirt or whatever around. 1st time I came back with a MarkVIII. Next time an Aurora both of which I wanted back in the day they were $40,000 cars and both depreciated way better.

Yes it is true, Z scale does retain it's value, if not even increase over time due to the demand. We often see older sold out items selling for a premium.
