I got lucky,I'm getting in on this deal thanks to Shamoo 737 asking me if I were interested in getting in on it.Not being to dumb (even my wife thought this was a good deal)I of course I said yes. I am slowly finding out there are quite a few Z modelers in this area but except for me and my show partner the rest of them seem to want to keep the hobby hidden.

I'm not sure this is a good deal at all. It's emptying my wallet fast. I ordered one 5-pack sd70. Today I visited my local trainshop so next week I will pick up an airbrush kit. This deal will cost me dearly. On the other hand it's about time. I expect that spraycans and Z-scale doesn't work that well together even if I find the right colour. Produces just too thick layer of paint.

I have always used an airbrush for Z scale locomotive and rolling stock work - better control than a spray can Also great weathering tool for all aspects of layout construction.

Put a bowl of water in your microwave and heat it for 1.5 to 2 minutes.Remove the bowl of hot water (be careful) set the rattle can in the hot water and keep checking the temp by touch. When the can is warm all the way to the top it is ready to spray. Warm paint seems to spray a finer finish.
I have not used my airbrush for so long I don't know if it even works anymore. Here's a pic of my GP-38-2 painted with Krylon "FUSION" burgundy paint. This paint is formulated for plastic.
I have since decaled the loco for my Grande Valley Railway.I will be using the same paint and colour on my SD 70s when I do them.

Dave the trucks are black only. Rob Awe, man I was just about to ask that same question. Really could use silver trucks. Oh well. I don't think I'll ever get used to the difficulty of buying parts in Z compared to N. Atlas is happy to provide things like trucks and shells. Good thing about this sale is you can effectively get a "shell" (and the entire loco) for not much more than shells cost in N.

While disassembling my first SD70 I discovered there are no lenses for the front lights or a light bar to transfer light from the LED to the front headlight. Then I checked the second loco and found the same pieces missing on that one too.
Does AZL have any spare parts for replacement of missing pieces?
