I just wanted to share that I got my Western Pacific RDC today. What a neat machine. Run like a dream straight out of the box. I love it.

The RDC's do run great. Super quiet too. I am sorry I didn't buy the other ATSF before they sold out. I hope we see another run sometime.

Mikael, Yeah the RDCs are a lot of fun. While everyone will look at a model railroad, bring out an RDC and people will stop and look! FYI, the WP generally ran their units baggage compartment forward.
Trey, AZL has teased that they will be doing another run of RDCs. I've been pushing (in case you haven't noticed) for the SP & ATSF units in the as-delivered 1950s paint.

Thank you Mark for the information. I assume a RDC can be driven from either end. And that they wanted to run them with the baggage compartment facing forward for safety maybe. Protecting the passengers as much as possible in case of a collision. Did they turn them around for the trip back? I haven't seen many in action on my DVDs but there are quite a few video clips on YouTube I've noticed.

Mikael, For a bit of history on the WP RDCs you might want to check out: www.wplives.com/operations/passenger/rdc/index.htmlWP really didn't need to turn the units around as they backed into the stations on each end. But more importantly the RDCs were equipped with additional hardware: marker lights and lights on the doors (non functioning on the AZL model). The light on the passenger end had the red lens, which commits that to be trailing end. Mark
