Hi,
I have an AZL MILW E9A and now I have a Marklin PRR E8A. It is Marklin but I guess the question is as valid here as for AZL units. The Marklin PRR E8A came with the uggly Marklin coupler truck in place. Unfortunatly I didn't run it as it were first. Now I have switch truck and added the plow. I loosened the screws on one side and pryed the halfs apart just enough for the truck to drop out. I inserted the other truck and tightened the screws again. Not using any force, just until I felt it stopped. Now it runs slow, that is ok at full speed but barely at half speed. Should I loosen the screws a little bit or is it just a question about breaking it in? I have loosen the screws a little bit and I have been running for some time now and it runs better. But my MILW unit runs faster and easier on lower voltage. I'm using standard Marklin trafo and Marklin track. I'm sure it will run great after I have been running it for awhile. I'm just asking as a principle, should I or should I not loosen the screws?
Cheers Mikael

Mikael,
Yes, try loosening the screws just a little bit. Also, the secondary trucks are not lubricated. You may want to put just a drop of oil on the gears and then run for a while to help them break in. This may be more of the issue. I noticed this when I swapped out trucks on another E8. Over time, some lubricant will transfer from the work to the truck gears, but adding a drop does help.

Thanks for the answer Rob.
I saw that the truck looked clean and dry and put a little bit of oil on it. And it runs better now, quiet and nice. So it will run better over time if I run it some more.
