Just in time for Chinese New Year, add another 3 months. To be more precise, we expect the SD45, GEvo and SD70ACe products to be delivered well before Chinese New Year. For those of you who are unaware, this is an important date, because almost all factories in China close for anywhere between one and four weeks at Chinese New Year as it is the time all of the workers return home to visit families. It is like our summer vacation. Because the factories completely close, it takes a while for them to get back up and running at normal production levels for many weeks, so there is always a rush to get items produced before CNY.

Thanks! that's good to know I never thought of that slowing production but it makes sense everyone needs a brake at one point or another

Any chance we'll see MRL in the SD70ACe, SD45, or anything else soon? I haven't bought any RTR models in a long time.

Hi, Always tricky to give an update. But the SD45s are in production as we speak. Does not mean we will release those right a way. The SD70ACe should be delivered to us before mid February and the ES44AC about 1 month later. Just got the brass KM ML-4000 drawings, so that project is going forward as well. The ATSF brass caboose is close to finish as well as yet another freight car. The Amtrak products could be available for Spring. But as I said, Z scale production is a moving target. Sincerely, Hans

I have to agree with Shamoo737....while it's noble to say this stuff will be here in February/March and it's great to keep the interest up, the reality is going to be much different. Adding 9 to 12 months to most manufacturers *first* estimates is usually safe, and this close out you can probably do 3 but the safer bet is going to be 6 months from this February fantasy-speak. If there's a betting pool, I'm taking July. ;-)
Any word as to the first road names for the Gevo's?

I would probably lose in a bet myself. It will take to long to explain why products are delayed, but we operate in a prototype environment with standards adjusted to small industries. In other words, our industry is a midget with midget budgets. Talent is high, but there are no means to maintain a large scale clockwork operation. We like many, do not produce anything in house, thus we have very little control of timing. And do not forget, when we find issues during development any changes will add months to the development cycle. We could have pushed the SD45 a couple of months forward, but then the SD45s would have hit the market at the same time as the F3s were ready for delivery. A dual locomotive release would not serve us well. But as mentioned in earlier blogs, we have had a few products that got delivered on time as well. Have a great Sunday, Sincerely, Hans
(Gevo first roadname? We will decide once products are shipped from China)

Don't get me wrong...I fully understand why products are delayed and mostly how the deal works. I'm in no hurry at all personally...I just think a better estimate is more useful than constantly saying it's 2-3 months out. (y'all are not alone in that practice...just about every model railroad mfg does it.)
I wasn't necessarily asking about THE first roadname....just the early pipeline. Like you did for the SD45's.
I'm really just curious if you eventually have planned a BNSF Heritage-II Gevo....the first few batches off the real assembly line still had the older H2 paint versus the newer powerbar logo. That would take the sting out of "no AC4400" a little bit since they're very similar.

Seriously, I need to build more spurs, yards and industries. We have built longer modules to spread out, especially for more trains to simultaneously run (and of course, double-triple headers catch the wandering eyes) but, this is a lot of locos !
Awesome.
