Quick update. The GE P42 and Superliner I cars are all injection. We are making the following Superliner I cars: Diner, Coach, Observation and Sleeper. We will try to upload photos this weekend as well. Also, we are not announcing any brass steam locomotives during NTS. We have another brass release, but that has to wait until tomorrow. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

No brass steam announcements??? Not to be a downer but that's a let down. That's what I have been waiting to see the most.

Really like the contemporary direction AZL is going with these new releases, smart move and very appealing. I did notice on the new injections of the SD70ACe, ES44, and P42 there are not any brass handrails or side panels; has HQ scrapped this detail for future releases in favor of factory working ditch lights instead? ...Release the reefers already... ^_*

Great call on the Amtrack I remember when kato did those in N some 15 or so years back, I really enjoyed that set. It has appeal across all areas of the country, not region specific per say.

Lots of good announcements for Z products! I think AZL might be announcing more new products than I have seen from all the manufacturers in N scale. Great work HanZ a Rob!

Great news! All these announcements are bright light for Z scale! Hans and Rob, about the ACes and M2s, as for the GEVOs, do you plan to release ALL the actual roads that ordered them? I'm already dreaming of a Ferromex sample... Dom

Great new Z models! Small detail of the SD45: front and rear pilot railings are similar to the GP38-2 design, they should not be straight, but follow the pilot floor. I made the same mistake on my SW1000 pilot railings. I'll guess for the SD45 it is done this way to reduce tooling costs. /Frank

Regarding brass hand rails and side panels: you are correct. Injection technology has improved to the point that we can make the handrails in POM plastic with greater detail than brass, and they do not bend, deform, or get damaged in shipping the way that brass does. The brass side panels were used to keep the locomotive shell thin around the motor and was a technique we used to make our hood units at the correct prototypical width. (MTL injected the whole shell without thin brass around the motor. They also used an off the shelf motor 8mm motor that was wider than the motor that we developed specifically for Z scale at 7.5mm. That's why MTL hood units are wider than ours) Motor technology has improved, and we are now using a 7mm motor which allows us to inject the whole hood unit without brass sides and still make it the correct prototypical width. We will continue to produce and sell our GP30, SD70, and GP7/9 with brass hand rails and brass side panels because it does not make sense to speed the money to re-tool those products whe. We could invest in new models instead. Great call on the Amtrack I remember when kato did those in N some 15 or so years back, I really enjoyed that set. Dom We plan on releasing all of the Class 1 railroads that operated the SD45, SD70ACe and GEvo locomotives. Yes, that includes heritage! There may be a few leasing company paint jobs that we will not do, but that's about it. Cheers! Rob(A) AZL

Robert summed it up, there will be very few railroads (and paint schemes) we will not do.
Now to the last NTS announcements:
Resin: M548 (another co-operation with Zpanzer) Brass: D&RGW and SP Krauss-Maffei ML-4000
Sincerely, Hans
