gerd, Already have it planned out. I may even have a part in my junk box. But I thought I read that the option is available, with Marklin?

Just curious, why did you select UP #949 when that # was used for the Brass release? I noticed you did protect #951A and #963B as well as other numbers - for obvious reasons I'm assuming?

We like the 949 since it is still running, but we do not put aside road numbers we have used before as brass releases. Maybe the 951A and 963B will show up as future injection releases. So no real method to our selection. We will try not to duplicate former injection road numbers, but that may be hard also if few road numbers are available. The SP RDC is one example. They only had one. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

gerd, Already have it planned out. I may even have a part in my junk box. But I thought I read that the option is available, with Marklin? Mark, I had a look on the Marklin drawing, nothing indicates the closed coupler box, just the pilot with the "fixed" knuckle coupler is included.

When we showed the original SP and UP prototypes, the pilots were fixed to the locomotive bodies and did not have a couplers attached. These early photos / prototypes could have led to a misunderstanding about the shape of the pilot. The final locomotive have the choice of running with or without a truck mounted coupler as well as the option of different pilots. As Gerd mentioned, any other pilot conversion need some scratch building. Sincerely, Hans (AZL)

Hans, Gerd, Thanks. As I said before I don't see this as an issue and definitely not a criticism of the AZL units. I just had some recollection that for UP there was a reason for me to go with Marklin over AZL.
