Recently I purchased four of the AZL Missouri Pacific E-8 locomotives......I want to state that they are wonderful in both appearance and operation.....I am very happy with their performance and they are good advertisements for AZL.....I have been in N-scale for over 20 years and know quality when I see it......these locomotives operate quietly and smoothly and at very slow speeds.....I write this to help others who might be considering Z-scale......I would say go for it, great quality.....Now I need lightweight passenger cars for my E-8 locomotives to pull......I hope that down the road these might happen with AZL......my only other experience with Z-scale involved passenger cars made by MTL......the passenger cars (coach, dome, sleeper) were not as good as I would like (not close coupling and no flush windows and bad looking dome)......so I hope AZL will do better.....the MP E-8 locomotives need coaches, domes, diners, sleepers, RPO, and baggage cars......the COLORADO EAGLE did not have an Observation car so that at Geneseo, KS, a sleeper from Wichita could be quickly attached to the consist.....however, the MISSOURI RIVER EAGLE did have an OBS.....when it began in 1942, the letterboards on the cars of the COLORADO EAGLE contained the train name.....as time went by and with the inauguration of the TEXAS EAGLE in 1948, some of the cars just contained THE EAGLE......when AZL does these it would be nice to be able to have a mix of cars with THE EAGLE or COLORADO EAGLE......I hope that this note is helpful......and I would hope that the Missouri Pacific Historical Society would help promote your products.....thank you.....GREAT PRODUCT.....VERY HAPPY!!!!

I received my MP E-8 in the mail last week. I picked up paint Saturday and received the book "Missouri Pacific Passenger Trains The Postwar Years" in the mail today. I hope to do one of the first 2 6-car Eagle trains delivered in February of 1940.

It is good to know that someone else likes the MP railroad....As a young boy, in 1949-1952, I was able to see the westbound COLORADO EAGLE every weekday evening while delivering my newspaper route in Jefferson City, Missouri....It was a very impressive consist.....it was usually bag, rpo, bag, coach, dome, coach, diner, sleeper, sleeper, sleeper.......sometimes more......never an obs since at Geneseo, KS, a sleeper from Wichita could be attached quickly......about 20 years ago I got deeply involved into N-scale and so with the help of KATO products I airbrushed my version of the COLORADO EAGLE......I had decals made at Rail Graphics in Elgin, IL, and so there it was.....some of the passenger cars were lettered COLORADO EAGLE and some were just THE EAGLE.....the sleepers were Arkansas River, Colorado Eagle, Gunnison River, and Eagle River.....the diners were San Isabel and Cheyenne Mountain and domes (Budd) 890, 891, and 892......generally from St Louis to Kansas City the COLORADO EAGLE would have two dome cars with one being at the end of the train.....that dome car was left in Kansas City and would come back to STL on the eastbound the next morning.....only one dome car would go onward to Denver....since the trip across Kansas was at night and there was not much to see..... the COLORADO EAGLE went into service in 1942 (with little fanfare because of the War) and the original equipment was labeled COLORADO EAGLE.....in 1948, the MP inaugurated the TEXAS EAGLE with the letterboards stating THE EAGLE....eventually the COLORADO EAGLE name on the cars began to become just THE EAGLE....this allowed more interchange of equipment....good luck.....keep in touch....if I can help in any way, just ask.....
