Be easy to get an AZL Mikado and some AZL passenger cars. Easy to duplicate.

You know that this last image looks very much like the SP Monterey branch between Fort Ord and Pacific Grove. You could easily co-op it for the Del Monte, SP's longest running passenger train: or If your interested, try to attract MTL Joe's attention, he's the Z expert on this train. Mark Mark, that first pix is HO. I know I've seen it before. But the last one looks real. Joe did a great job!!!

You're right. The second image is real, from 1971 I believe. You can check out: wx4.org/to/foam/sp/san_jose/long_haul/del/monte.htmlfor more details of the streamline Del Monte. I don't know what Joe has accomplished. The last I heard he was working on the lounge car, a custom job. For the rest, this can be modelled with the AZL GP9, even down to the road number, and an MTL coach. There are also images of the train carrying a business car, also available from MTL. To make things more interesting, from San Francisco to San Jose the Del Monte was combined with a peninsula commuter train and would have Harriman coaches in SP TTG or pearl grey (depending on the era) tacked on. As for the first, it may be HO but as you can see from the images in the above link, it's an extremely accurate view of Lovers Point just outside Pacific Grove. The takeaway from the image is consist: RPO, coaches and a parlor/lounge. Mark

Thanks Mark. Interesting train. Interesting story. Glad you pointed it out. BTW: That private car looks like Dante Stephenson's "The Survivor" it used to belong to Barbara Hutton.

Sven, I find you modeling work to be superior to many of the "professional" modelers in Hollywood. But there is always room for a little more detail: disposed cigarette packs, beer bottles, Burma Shave signs. I model to the 3-foot rule and tend not to model anything that can be seen at arm's length. Mark Ok, at least we added some trees and flowers now..... Best, Sven
