Just for my knowledge : did the Chessie really run high-nosed SD45s ? Dom Chessie never had any sd45s. I painted a couple low nose though. Long live the fantasy 😁

As of January 1 1987 Chessie System Still did not have any SD45's listed in their Roster. And it was March of 1986 when they stopped painting Chessie Colors on any of their Loco's. By then Even those coming from the repair shops and paint shops only got the interior touched up/repainted (Green), The exterior's were left in their faded, chipped, and pealing state in anticipation of the upcoming New CSX Paint Scheme's. So It is Highly unlikely that any SD45's ever received the Chessie System Paint Scheme.

I can't say for sure but as best i can remember in the early days CSX painted the loco's in Gray with Blue trim and lettering, I also remember their being different shades of Gray. I don't know if it was by design that different locos got different shades and trim or if one faded faster than the other or maybe they came from different paint shops.
