First of all, thanks to everyone for your input on my previous threads about loco questions.
Would you please provide some input reharding the Heavy Mikado? I saw one run yesterday at Galesburg. It seemed to wobble some but they were running it a lititle fast. How well do these tun, especially at slower speeds? I will be build a small layout with Rokuhan track using 245mm and 270mm curves. Also, are these difficult to get on the track?
Thanks for your help.

All 6 of my Mikado's run well at any speed. I've run a couple of them at shows for several hours at a stretch with out any problems. You will need to keep the track clean though as like many other Z scale Locomotives they do not like dirty track. The AZTEC track cleaning cars do a nice job of keeping the track clean. www.aztectrains.com/zscaletrackclean.html They are not too difficult to get on the track, no more so than any of my other steamers. You can always get the Micro trains Z scale Rerailer 988 00 222 or the Rokuhan Z A002 Rerailer both of which makes putting anything on the rails easier. David

Dave, I would have been happy to explain the wobbling to you if you had introduced yourself and bothered to ask me. I've been running Z scale trains since 1972 when Marklin introduced the scale in the U.S.A.. It was pulling a maximum load around a tighter-than-normal flex-track radius curve and the driving wheels were binding slightly on that curve. Any other wobbling that occurred was at the expansion tracks between modules. They run very well and aren't too difficult to put on the track. You just need to be careful that you don't let the tender and locomotive separate. I bought this loco used but I'm still very happy with it's performance. I don't know if you've ever watched a real steam loco run but they all wobble as they go down the track.
I hope this answers your questions, Thom Welsch MidweZt HaulerZ.

I posted a few videos of one of mine pulling ten heavyweights. It pulls great at slow and fast speeds. I am very impressed with the little engine.
