Well the Supertrain 2015 Calgary is over for another year, and in speaking to several members of the organizing committee of the CMRS it was a huge success. They don't have the exact figures yet, but from all indications, attendance far surpassed previous years when the show was held at the Soccer Dome. With for gigantic gyms, two mezzanines and corridors all occupies with vendors, layouts and more, it wasn't hard to note that attendance was massive. Just in the gym I was in, it was almost shoulder to shoulder for spectators. I had a lot of people at my display watching, more so then any previous years. They were very impressed with Z scale and what can be done with it in a small space. One big draw was Canadian Pacific's mini train that ran around the parking lot giving rides for both kids and adults. This year there were more interactive displays and such for the little ones, such as Brio train layouts, Kato push button train layouts, and battery operated play trains, and of course the play area with lego blocks. I spoke to one of the three railroad art dealers there and he did better this year in sales then at any previous year anywhere else. This is a good thing although he didn't give me a dollar amount. I don't know yet who the winners of the various categories are, but I'm sure they will be posted to Supertrain 2015 website. All in all, it was a fantastic show and the Genesis Center staff were more then helpful and eager to please us. They were quite impressed by the way the CMRS staff had everything organized down to the final detail. The only flaw was one of two elevators broke down to people with strollers who came in through the northeast entrance had to go all the way across the building to the south elevator to get down to the lower level. That upset a few but what can you do? Next year I'll be there with my entire layout so it should be even better. As much fun as it was, I'm glad it's over. It's a lot of work to do these shows and I'm glad I had my son and his friend to help or I would have been screwed. Thanks to them so much for their work.

The count is in and the CMRS committee puts the attendance for this years Supertrain to 13000 for the two day period. This is not a record but very good considering we were in competition with Comicom which was being held at the same time at the other end of the city, and also a cancer marathon being held down town. But all in all, for the first time at the Genesis Center in the North part of the city, we did extremely well. I think every participant was satisfied with the attendance. The award winners have been posted to the Supertrain 2015 website along with a few pictures of the show. I still have to download my pics from the camera and then try to upload them here. Never was successful at this before. Oh well, we shall see. Looking forward to next year's show.

Hi Mark.
I just had two modules of my total layout there. With both together it was 30 inches wide by 101 inches long. One module which I call my main module or the one I started out on this adventure with was finished and the second was just a demo module with 2% risers up and down in a lopsided figure 8 pattern. I actually have videos of it, but I can't post them here because according to the rules, I can only have AZL engines and cars and I have a mix of MTL, AZL, Intermountain and Full Throttle. There were also a couple of kit cars as well, so If you want to see my layout as it was in the show, you'll have to send me your email address and I'll send them to you.

If anyone here is interested in finding out more about the success of the Supertrain 2015 in Calgary, you can search Supertrain 2015 and when the main page comes up, click on it and at the bottom is a blurb about the attendance, and the date of next years Suptertain Show, and you can also find pictures of a few layouts as well as the award winners. Sadly I was not amoung them. Seems to be some kind of rule where if you are the only displayer of a certain scale, they don't offer a prize of any kind. Sucks to be the only Z scaler in this area who displays at the show. There are also links from some of the clubs that came to Supertrain and by clicking on them you get pictures of their layouts at the show and so on.
