Hi there fellow z-scale enthusiasts, I have changed my prototype from the Moffat Tunnel to the SP Coast Line depicting the Gaviota Trestle bridge. This to highlight the beauty of AZL’s SP Daylight passenger train consists. After having measured this bridge its length comes out to be 112cm (44”) in z-scale! As I am examining the bridge and its measurements I noticed the lattice girders and started wondering how to realize this in z-scale. Currently I am thinking scratch build these lattice girders by using styrene beams and manual handy work creating the lattice pattern. Does anyone have any other ideas how to make these lattice girders? Thanks in advance! -Tiest

Depends on the extent you want to go with it. I might be inclined to look at Micro-Engineering components from their N-scale line. Probably the best route would be 3D printing using a resin printer, but I'm not sure how intricate they can get. For the girders it's probably do-able. For the intricate cross braces you might have to find some sort of etched metal source.
Nice looking bridge and should make for a nice scene. I'm sure you know this, but keep in mind that most people will do selective compression...so you wouldn't necessarily have to build the entire 44" long bridge, just one that is long enough to capture the essence.

I started work on this bridge for print a few years back, my original layout design was the SP Coast Line. It probably wouldn’t take much to complete it. However it comes with a high cost to print if you are not already set up with quality printer.
