Hi Hans and Rob,
Have you ever done any "official" Demographic research of the Z Scale market and modelers?
How big is the actual Z market for North American, US Prototype "modern era" (1950 to 2024) railroad models?
AZL Forum stats show 1268 members. Are these serious modelers or lurkers?
I feel the Z market is growing, but by how much?
It would be interesting to know the following:
Age group range of Z modelers? 14 to 40? 41 to 69? 70+?
Male or Female?
Country where modeler resides? (most likely majority USA, Canada and western Europe)
If USA, where? Midwest, South, West, East, North?
Does where you live impact what you model? example: I live in St. Louis, MO. I only model midwest scenes. Median Income?
Disposable income used for Z annually?
New modelers starting in Z or cross over modelers from O, HO, N?
Railroads modeled? Class 1's? Fallen Flags? Regionals? Short Lines? Industrials?
Era modeled? 50's? 60's? 70's? 80's? 90's? 2000+?
Do you run DC or DCC?
Thank You,
Mr. B
