How many azl locomotives can safely be run on one Rokuhan controller either RCO2 or RCO3? I'm currently been running consists of three locomotives with no problem but have thought about adding a fourth. Didn't know if there was any issue with amperage draw and negative effects on either the controller or locomotive.

I'm sure there are others who are more sophisticated than I on this topic, but I routinely run three trains on my layout, each with 3 to 4 locos, all coming off a single RC-03. If all locos are AZL, no problem. I have noticed that running MTL GP35s or GP9s will tend to trip the circuit breaker more frequently. No similar problem with MTL SD40-2s, when I had them. MTL F7s won't work on the RC-03 in my experience.

Thanks, It seemed to work okay when I tested it shortly. I forgot about the circuit protection on the controller units. It is pretty sensitive so I imagine if it's not tripping everything should be okay.
I've always wondered if it was better to run multiple units. Less strain on the drive hardware pulling the same number of cars. I love the prototypical look as well I even fooled around with putting a mid DPU once!
