Hi guys been trying to take the shell off this loco to change it to dcc board loco is a F59PH LOCO any help very much appreciated Attachments:

It usually falls out. Here’s 2 ways:
Put 1 hand on table, palm facing, open hand. Other hand over loco, thumb/fingers gently surround shell. Hold ~3” high. Quickly ‘throw’ it down at slight angle so your throwing palm hits your palm on table, first. (Kinetic principle lesson of the day)
Or, small screw driver at rear, with loco upside down, slight pry out, the palm slap (see above)
Ill try and post some pix of decoder install in a hour

That is Not the decoder for that early AZL loco. The P59H has to be custom wired in. I am sorry that I did not post the process yesterday day but will today in an hour. You need any cheap 2-function decoder like Digitrax DZ126. Larger N decoders will also fit in the ‘tray’ as this is a 20+ year old design. The location is ‘square’ at the back of the chassis.
