Railings are falling off and bent. I bought items from last years BF sales and was happy with my purchases. This year, not. That can be taken care of. Please contact Rob Kluz. So what about the missing horn ?

It never came with one. You'll need to buy either the single RDC horn or the 3-chime horn and drill the appropriate hole(s) to mount it.

I cannot check the existing inventory as I do not have access, and I did not work on that project, so your guess is as good as mine. I do know that they were made by Sanda Kan, and they “lost” the tooling so once these are gone, that’s the end of the line. With or without a horn, it’s going to be a rare breed unless MTL restarts production - and I have not heard them making any moves in that direction. It’s a great little loco that pulls like a mule. Dave Wolf runs them with one GP7 pulling something like 50 cars at train shows for hours one end. Hope this info helps. It’s about all I know on the subject. Best -Rob

Best -Rob Thanks Rob for answering me on the subject. No doubt,I have all three C&O locomotives they are great little runners. I want to purchase more of them cause how great they have been. In another thread I was hoping for a run on some replacement shells of different road names . Cause if that was possible.I’d buy a couple dozen in a heart beat.

Geep whiz. Kinda like sayin’ the emperor has no clothes, ay? I Con-Cor—Excuse me. I concur. Chesapeake & Ohio GP7s are hornless. At least one of the 5712 and one of the 5772 are of which I remain the proud owner. Acknowledged is a creative solution offered by Doug A. (Yet I’m too squeamish[?] to modify or to weather a specimen from AZL. Yikes! AZL products are cute and cuddly, but they’re also museum pieces, to me. ) Oh, those things are so darn small, no one is going to notice—A wife would say. But I don’t have a wife. Aw geep. This is a great BOGO deal from AZL. They are cutting their losses on relatively stagnant stock and offering a sweet deal; and now that the 2007 C&O images are in front of everyone for the first time in a long time, there is criticism of a detail that has been missing since ... well, initial release. There is no image anywhere showing the horns on this loco. It likely was missed. For information purposes ... the timeframes of releases provide some added details... 4-digit part number releases were in the 2007/2008 timeframe. SandaKan production using Faulhaber motors (8v rated, if I understand correctly - so don't overdrive these!). 620x 4-digit part numbers: 6202 C&O 2/07 6203 NPR 2/07 6204 PRR 6/08 6205 UP 6/08 The next run of GP7s were with the new 7.5mm motor and were in the 2014/2015 timeframe and these are represented with 5-digit part numbers. 620xx 5-digit part numbers: Date of release (M/YY) / Road 4/14 SP 8/14 MP 10/14 ATSF 11/14 MILW 12/14 WP 1/15 DRGW 2/15 NYC 6/15 CB&Q I've found the 620x 4-digit series to be some of the smoothest running locomotives AZL has ever put out and we've all seen David Wolf's "AZL Coal Drag" video on YouTube where one is pulling several dozen hoppers (as Rob A mentioned). They originally had an MSRP of $210 but when the new released 2nd run came out in 2014, AZL slashed the price of the remaining original run units to $169 to align with the new releases. And now this week, you have the ability to get them for $84.50 each. Crazy solid deal. As for railings - I've found that just removing locos from the soft plastic sheet that wraps around them can move the railings - don't remove it the way Rob K did in his latest SD40 video from 1:34 to 1:40 in that video (he pulls it straight out! **Video cued up to plastic removal** We've all done this so be very careful when opening the wraps of plastic as the railings might get caught up. They usually can press back into place or back into shape with a tweezers in a jiffy and hopefully, no paint chips off. Adding my 2c as I am not feeling the love on this amazing, better than dealer cost offer (believe it) that AZL has bestowed onto everyone.

It looks to me like the Nickel Plate Road GP7s also lack horns, just fyi.
But this is still a deal not to be missed. Whatever road you choose.

I will be putting my railings back into position, and it's going to need the double tweezer treatment, it's just that I never received a loco from AZL that had this much "damage" to the railings. Both of them gave few fits on run in, and run very smooth now even at low speed!
Both loco's came with 4 digit part numbers, but they run at slightly different speeds. This makes me wonder if I have 2 loco's with different motors. Given the damage to the railings, were they returned to AZL and re-boxed? Do I have a 5 digit loco in a 4 digit box?
