Hello: I am new to this and am making a fairly simple Z-scale layout. What is the "standard"/"usual"/"etc." minimum distance between two parallel straight tracks? What is the "standard"/"usual"/"etc." minimum distance between two curved tracks? Thanks, Brian (bxley)

Hi Brian, Basically, the distance between two parallel and curved tracks in Z scale is always 25 mm; there are no minimums/usual etc. Of course, you are free to use any distance between two parallel straight tracks, but it is easy to plan your layout using 25 mm multiplier everywhere. There is also such a special option as flexible tracks - long sections of track that can be formed into any desirable shape by customer. But since you are new to constructing Z layouts, this probably can be your next step, once you get familiar with standard track geometry. Here is a couple of useful links for reference: Märklin Z scale track book (multi-language PDF): www.maerklin.de/fileadmin/media/produkte/SpurZ/0296_Gleisanlagen-Buch_Spur_Z_komplett.pdfRokuhan Z scale track system: www.rokuhan.com/layout/Best, Alex

Yes, exactly - from center to center. This picture shows it better: Regards, Alex

Thanks, Brian (bxley) There is a 3-D printed tool that I believe I have a plans for that I can send you and you could have it printed. It actually holds the distance between the rails at exactly 25 mm. Shoot me a message for more information. Lance Zscaleplanet

Besides a Parallel helper, you need a 3-point for curves. See: “Fast Tracks” Trifecta” handlaidtrack.com/?v=7516fd43adaaMake sure you clear the ties (sleepers)! Skip the SweepSticks. For parallel curves, use a ruler fixed at one and drill holes at the desired Center line. (Note: start 25mm/1” in from the end then ADD 25/1” to the measure 145, 220, etc.). It will help you.
