I finally got to see this in person at Saturday's show and it's very impressive. It's the largest Z scale layout I've seen in person and it flows together really nice. Sometimes modules are just "thrown together" and don't always transition nicely, but this one flows from one module to the next in a way that looks like everything belongs together. It was good to meet Rob as well as Randy who is very knowledgeable about Z scale in general.
Finding Z locos and rolling stock for sale is generally difficult at any show, but I've nearly always had luck at finding something at this show due to the size and amount of vendors selling. It typically takes me at least 3-4 hours to walk through and view all the tables due to the volume of stuff of for sale in all scales. The show this year was a bit disappointing for Z scale items for sale. I only found 3 vendors selling Z and only 2 of them had decent amount of Z and nearly all of it was older Marklin and MTL stuff so a little unusual compared to what I've been able to find in the past.
My son and I did find a decent amount of HO items at a reasonable price. I took a chance on a lightly used HO Atlas CSX Dash 8-40CW for $45. The guy selling it was getting rid of his dad's collection. I only dabble in HO mainly for a Christmas display we set up in the house under the Christmas tree and really didn't know a lot about this engine but when I got it home to power it up, turns out it has DCC with Sound, working ditch lights, etc. We got 3 other used HO Seaboard and B&O locos for $20 - $30 each, and while only DC, all are in great running order so a good deal for us. Overall, this is a great large show and for those in the region who are able to go, you're likely to find something railroad related that you'll like simply due to the amount of railroad items being sold. In addition to the standard model RR stuff you find at most shows, there's a decent amount of hobby tools, paints and painting equipment, RR pictures, large RR book collections, prototype railroad tools, loco builder's plates, railroad dinnerware from proto dinning cars, etc. usually always for sale at this show. For those who have kids who like Legos, there's a Lego group that has a nice large Lego RR display at this show as well.

I just did a search on YouTube and found someone else's upload of video of the Z scale layout in Timonium: 2023 Timonium Z Scale LayoutIt's great to see the Medford, Oregon, modules integrated with the Wash D.C. modules. Looks very nice! Well done. I'm assuming that's a Magnorail system for the cars and trucks on the highway.

Hi marmot,
Thanks for the link to the video! I'm the new caretaker of Loren's beautiful Medford, Oregon modules, and it was a great privilege to get them out in front of the public again. Show attendees were profuse with their praise of the new addition to our layout!
The moving cars are not Magnorail, but a scratchbuilt system by Loren, built many years ago, and still operating beautifully.
We hope to get these out to a few more shows in the coming years!
Thanks again!

We have not, unfortunately. It's so tough to get schedules to line up for a long trip like that. I'd love to get there someday!

Sorry the quality is not the best I'm not much of a Videographer but here are a few more video's from the show This was our largest display so far. We filled our 30' x 40' display area and then some. Their was usually a minimum of 4 trains running and as many as 8 at times. On average it took a little over 12 minutes for a train to make a single loop around the layout.
