I am now making my designs available for purchase over at Cults 3D. I have a few up and I'll be making them public over the next week or two. Others will be uploaded and go live as I can get to them. First up is the standard 40' boxcar. As I'll say on all my posts, I designed these for a filament printer. They might look nicer on a resin printer, but as I don't have one I can't say how long one would take to cure. I also don't know if they'll have the same weight as a filament print. Let me know if there's information you'd want on these listings. The next model should be live on Cults in a few days. 🤞 |

Here’s my winner (and would say a monetary result): Derelict, well-used, junk, boulders, bulge out, sway belly, just gotta have it. Pullout the sides (unevenly), ‘push’ random tetrahedron shape (size, axis, …) ‘through the walls at various protrusions, bend the ends out, sag the belly (keep bolster parallel). *Please*   |

That would be difficult to design, and might be hard to print on a filament printer. It's easier to get irregular shapes off a resin printer because of it prints at nearly pixel density. But on both resin and filament printers, any protrusions would overhang and need supports.
I might do some tinkering when I have time and see what I can come up with.
I've tried to make my designs easy to print, both for me and now for anyone who buys them. My hope is that keeping things simple will encourage more in the hobby to undertake 3D printing. But I'll see what I can do and what my printer can handle.

I've made a few more designs live: A 1930s style steel boxcarA double-door steel boxcarA double-sheathed wood boxcarI think I'll make my caboose design and some of my short passenger car designs available for download in a couple of days. I've recently redesigned my streamline passenger car designs. I cut them down to 80' feet to make the math simpler, but I like how they turned out. I'll post pictures in the layout thread soon. |
