A few weeks ago, we released AZL's 53' spine cars. We immediately had requests for a test running video like we did with previous AZL intermodal releases. Well... here you go!

I like the blinking red light on the end of the last car. I wasn't aware those were available for Z. How or were can I get one?

A little fast for a FRED, but a cool little detail item for sure!

This. --^ The best FRED's available (sort of available) by FAR are Richmond Controls. www.richmondcontrols.com They have a realistic flash rate (unlike most) and a variety of configuration/installation options. And they will work with both DC and DCC from track power. The slight problem is availability/procuring them. Sometimes it seems he has an unlimited supply, and sometimes it seems like he gives you an answer of months or even years (seriously) before stock will be replenished. And there's no wait list or stock notification process. So if you want something, you just have to pay him and wait it out. Also, he's an extremely difficult person to deal with overall, so just be prepared. But yes, a well executed EoT/FRED is a wonderful detail.

Doug is spot on. This is one from Richmond Controls. The high-cube was upgraded years ago. It is the only one I have with the FRED. I really like that detail! And about those AZL stickers... we are including them in every starter set we sell. Rob

I wonder if it is something to do with the Rokuhan throttle? (assuming that's what you have, seem to recall that.) That one must be set on the "Tyco" setting. Maybe at least knock it down to the "Lionel" or "Spazoid Police Cruiser" setting. Or, "Normal" would be good.

Those double-28 configurations are 57' Spine cars (28 x 2 = 56) vs the 53ft Spine cars that AZL has done. Of note... -Showcase miniatures has done two versions of UPS 28ft pups. -AZL has done an older ribbed-side version of the 28ft pups. -HoboTim was working on a 57ft Spine at one point but I'm unsure if he ever completed/released it -At least one company makes printable 28ft pups for printing to cardstock. I do agree that the 57ft cars would be a nice next step. Hopefully the 53s do well enough to keep the momentum going.
