Hi All, I have 2 Norfolk Southern SD70Ms I got in the Christmas Buy One Get One from AZL. One runs very well, quiet, and the other bogs down in the corners. They are on 220 Rokuhan track, and I wanted to run the in the usual lash up, one back to back. The one runs fine on straight track, but slows in the curves, and when running backwards, it gets a bit jerky as well. Elephant style runs better though, with the better running one pushing the other thru the curves.
I run trains a lot and I would have hopped these would run better after break in, but the one still bogs down in the corners. Thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

Give Rob Kluz a ring or email. He can take care of it next week when he is back at the office.

I believe it’s the power pickup. They tend to get loose, and loose contact with the pickup in the trucks. Turn the engine upside down, and see if they stay in the middle of the chassis pickup when you turn the trucks.

Also I would check that the trucks have full unobstructed swing. Sometimes (I am not familiar with the SD70) the contacts on the trucks get behind the chassis mounted pickup strips and obstruct rotation.

I checked that as well, they seem to swing ok with no drag, but will stop obviously when they hit the steps.
