Yes, the first "bad news" of 2022 for railfans. Good news is BNSF is generally slow to repaint so likely we'll see the MRL colors for at least a few more years.
It's bittersweet. I've always been a closet MRL fan and love the area. I like that as a Class II they still have clung to some of the older power.
But at least they're going out on a "high note" and seems as if their employees will be taken care of at least for the short term to give them time to transition or retire.
And we have our beautiful little scale models to immortalize the MRL for decades to come...including two fantastic little gems from AZL. (well three counting the ACF covered hopper). It will be interesting to see if the MRL Veterans and Essential Workers schemes will make the cut for the new run of SD70ACes.

Sad, but true. Glad I got to see MRL in action a couple times over the year's. Hopefully BNSF will be really slow painting those ACEs!
