Wife and I will be in Berlin, May. There are so many listed and many have simple storefront images and couple of inventory pix.
Can we narrow it down to: glass cases with locos and wagons, interesting collections, maybe a small nice layout and such?
The last time I was there (2005), there was a large automated layout that I later learned that it close, assumedly from Miniatur Wunderland

Some NEGATIVE remarks about Miniatur Wunderland : 1) Displaying such layouts built with millions of bucks can rather discourage kids from beginning with this hobby, maybe they will think that they will never be able to build such (giant) layouts ! For me it's simply "over-ambitionned" ... 2) Once I saw a report on German TV about the US layout. The commentator said that they tried to get the best coulour for the rocks. On the other side they have very contemporary digital displays on the highways, run simultaneously BNSF trains (existing since 1996), a freight train pulled by a Big Boy (end of regular service 1959) and a narrow gauge forest railroad with a Shay (the last one built 1945). For me this has nothing to do with real modelling, there are too many anachronisms, it's rather like ... Disneyland ! I prefer outdoor layouts like Swissminiatur in Melide, Ticino !
PS : I am afraid that I must add : Don't feed the Troll !

I recommend "Turberg" Modelrailroad shop, Lietzenburger Straße 51, Berlin! Not cheap, but a lot of model railroads of all scales. They have an extra shop for modelcars and airplanes next to eachother. Only 450 Meters apart is "Micha´s Bahnhof", Nürnberger Straße 24a, Berlin. Spezialized in trading used items. Interesting to see! Both shops are in the center of (west-) Berlin, very close to "Kurfürstendamm" and the big " Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe)".
If your female partners are with you, send them to KaDeWe and visit the "Technik Museum", Trebbiner Straße 9, It is located in the old roundhouses of the former "Anhalter Bahnhof". A lot to see for railroad fans! There is an exact layout of the whole stubb end Station, the fright yard and the locomotive facilities. A local railroad club is working on it, but I´m afraid, that Corona might have canceled any operation on it.
Enjoy!

I, then We go to Miniatur Wunderland every 3-5 years since it’s inception. The creativity and technology fly me there. It is full of every life and attention getting scenes like, the Airport and the Concert, especially with the virtual reality of me living out Woodstock! But we look at all the little scenes too and extra time looking ‘Easter Eggs’ (very tiny/simple things like sex in the weeds or the dog peeing on the bikini suntan. And their MKS-measurement of the height of the Alps, having to raise a ceiling tile several cm.
