Well another year has past and we have to ask again.. what is your favorite loco? Last year, the ES44AC took the prize. But this year has been interesting with the release of EMD E7s, F7s and now the SW1500s. So what is your favorite?

The new F7's are a dream come true! I love SD45's, but the AZL ones do not look prototypical cause they ride so high. Hopefully, next year my fav will be the SD40-2!!

Still the ES44AC for me. I would have thought we'd have more of them announced by now given their popularity.
I really just hope that they can be parlayed into other locos like the C44-9W's. (and maybe eventually AC4400's and other variations of the Gevo's) I would buy a lot of Dash 9's if I'm still in Z by then. (1-2 BNSF H1, 8-10 BNSF H2, 1-2 BNSF Silver Warbonnet, 2-3 ATSF Silver Warbonnet, 2-3 UP, SP, NS, CSX)

I love SD45's, but the AZL ones do not look prototypical cause they ride so high. I have limited use for the SD45's given my era. I will likely eventually get one of the MRL's which is the only one that really fits what I'm doing. Regardless, I do know that at least one person has lowered the SD45's and documented the process. Where that is escapes me at the moment...thinking maybe on Trainboard.com. EDIT: Nope...Railwire. Here's the link: www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=41765.0 Same! I am anxiously awaiting the SD40-2's, which is one of my all-time favorite locomotives. Hope "4x4 Lift Kit" isn't one of their features, too.

In the past I have voted for the locomotives that were available at the time but with the latest additions to the roundhouse maybe the older locomotives should not be candidates in the contest. Considering what has been released lately the SW1500 gets a resounding huge vote from me!

So why are the F3 and F7 linked above? I'm a big fan of the F7s...

Interesting. I’ve had no problems with the F7s, while loose boards and power strips are in my experience common on the F3s. Sounds like a case of good luck (F7) / bad luck (F3)... I'm not a high volume dealer but in my experiences handling these, the problems you mentioned are equally distributed across F3 and F7. There is no way you'd make a new chassis given these dimensional similarities. F3 at front, F7 at rear:

I kept the E7s different since the body is significantly different plus there are B units with the release. The F7s and F3s are SO similar. To be honest, I can't see the F3s getting any votes over the F7s. Rob
