Had been looking for Micro Structures Logan saving and loan building in Z for past few years. Finally I got the last one of three that was on eBay. Now if micro engineering would produce there promise building from earlier this year . That would be great.

The last news I read (from Z.scale.hobo and Trainboard) was that the schedule slipped to December.

I’m not holding my breath... 🤨 They’ll need to improve their product if they want to complete in today’s market. The scale of “Downtown” series is too small. Houses are OK in scale, but the commercial buildings are more accurate if shortened from what they’re calling “N scale”. |

Sven: Most commercial building of the era depicted were a minimum of 30 feet wide (@10 meters) David K Smith developed a Z scale ruler to measure this. From then on, he scratch build buildings that were to proper scale. I have several of them. They are much wider!
The microstructure building were developed for briefcase layouts. The doors are to scale ...but overall compressed. PM your email address and I’ll send pictures.

While I cannot argue with your logic - the scale is a pretty minor issue; given the anticipation, the market doesn't really mind. I predict that he will sell out this next run much much faster than his previous runs.
Make the buildings larger and you will cut out a wider number of modelers. My humble opinion.
I pinged Chris to see where his schedule falls right now. Neverland's pessimism may well likely be rewarded - but we shall see.

First off, from communications I had the beginning of the year, the new release will be a reshoot of one set of films, so the release will be only of that set and no changes.
Most towns developed after after about 1790 in the U.S. are based on the Survey Township: 6x6 miles square. This gets divided down into sections and half sections, etc. Eventually for the town this breaks down typically to 330x660 foot city blocks (sometimes called a Chicago block) making parcels 33 feet wide, the maximum outside width of a minimum building. So a 30 foot build is not unreasonable and many buildings were built that width.
However, when you start looking at the Sanborn insurance maps from that era, only a small number of building actually used all the property. Using some of the maps for Lodi, the hotel was more like 24 feet presumably to provide light and ventilation for the rooms. The same was true for a number of businesses for rooms above to store, or to provide access for deliveries, etc.
So what I'd be interested in knowing is the specifics of "compressed." I don't actually own one of the commercial building so are they 25' wide? Are the bricks and windows the right size? Is the height right? From images they seem properly proportioned. It would be interesting to see a Microstructure building next to one of the Townbuilders.
