I know you about done talking about types of track, but I have a question. Can you replace Marklin turnouts with some other brand? I also had a problem with a MTL SD40-2 not being able to clear the plastic mechanisms on turnouts placed in turns. This is a problem for me becsue there are five turnouts in turns on my layout.

The turnouts are not the problem with the MTL SD40-2. The plows on the front and back hit the track of the turnout at the bottom. You just need to file or sand the bottom of the plow until it does not touch any more.
To answer your question, though. MTL and Rokuhan turnouts will replace the Marklin turnouts. You will have the same problem with the MTL SD40-2s, though, if you do not file or sand the plows.

To BAZman : concerning Rokuhan, the divergent rail on the "moving" part is straight, too, so I had some issues with my NH-GP9 (GP9 shell from ZScale Monster, now sold out, on GP35 chassis from Marsilius), it "tumbled" on the turnouts like an all-terrain vehicle. No issues with AZL. So I noticed that the wheels of this MTL were "wider", I sent the axles back to Mr. Marsilius, and he modified them ; since this time I don't have any more issues with this loco. I've not yet tested Rokuhan nor Atlas turnouts, although I have 20 of these latest samples waiting to be used... BTW, Alberich, do you have a MTL gauge in order to check your rolling stock's axle gauge ? Dom

All in all, I think the Peter Wright turnouts were the BEST EVER MADE in Z. I do agree ! Too bad I didn't purchase 50 or 60 of them when they were still available.. Dom

To Domi : I didn't need a gauge to see that there was something wrong with the axles (AZL had no issues) ... I sent them back and Mr. Marsilius (thanks again) modified them, now my engine runs over the turnouts in deviant position without any "shaking".
