While, not a railroad, this is prototype news for anyone modeling modern Northern and Central California in the current era. PG&E is modernizing their electrical distribution throughout the region, replacing existing poles with new and with what appears to be aluminum cross members replacing wooden ones. The poles are running 5-10 feet higher than the old ones. All trees underneath and adjecent to the poles and power lines have been removed or cut back to 12 foot distance. These changes are occurring around the old NWP, SP and WP routes. They are also removing all residential feeds from trees. SO in my case I now have a power pole in the middle of my yard.

Those cross arms should last a while, outlive the wood pole.

The new poles are supposed to be treated with a fire retardant. Since the old poles were installed in 1960, I tend to think the new ones will last into the 22nd century. Also note that the transformers an insulators are upsized f.
