Hi, I have recently received my first AZL engines, two GP30s. Unfortunately I broke the end coupler on one of them. In the box is a spare truck with no coupler. My idea is to remove the front truck and and place it at the rear. Then mount the extra truck at the front. I hope this is OK. The problem is that I can't find any info on how to remove the trucks on a GP30. I have found it for E8/E9s. Is it the same procedure or can the trucks just be pulled out? Advice please!

Hello! The trucks are super simple to remove and swap out. Use a small flat head screwdriver and gentled pry down from the rear of the truck. It will pop out. With the truck out, push the new truck in place. It will just snap in. Watch the copper contacts on the chassis. These can easily come loose from the chassis on the GP30. They slide into a groove of the chassis, but it is a pain to put them back in place. For this reason, try to keep the shell on when swapping the trucks.

Isn't there a video on here somewhere, thought I saw one recently?

I'm not aware of a video, but there are some good images of various aspects of locomotive servicing over on trainboard. Zscale Monster has captured a couple of the AZL documents on their AZL page. Try: www.zscalemonster.com/azl/e8_e9-truck.pdfAll the recent AZL diesel locomotives use the same basic mechanical design. Mark

I think the video I saw recently was the GP38 version..... Would it be about the same for truck replacement?
