Looks like room for a TCS Z2 but need the CAD dimensions. Then there is the space to run the wires. Sometimes easier to replace with magnet wire as they can *easily* carry the current. Others will get their locos to play with this, before I will get my road and post an our later

I will figure it out, and it will be a Digitrax decoder, so I can use Transponding. I'm thinking the fan can come out if space is needed, then a laser rastered fan grill. The board can be cut down too, with an 0603 LED soldered right on the edge of the decoder board. Remove the thick heat shrink off the decoder and Kapton over the frame halves. I just got to get these babies in my hot little hands, as Friday I am heading out for a multi family camping/fishing extravaganza for 4 days. I bought a full Digitrax DCC setup, as well as transponding occupancy detectors, and the Surroundtraxx sound system for sound that follows locomotives with transponding decoders.

Should be a piece of cake for Digitrax or TCS to have custom decoder for this one, plenty of space in front and back. More a question of willingness and business case.

That’s where David Wolf is placing the speaker!😄

Very interesting. Thanks for posting the link. With the large number of roadnames, both phase I and II, and the interest in the RS-3, hopefully even more will be drawn into doing Z. The NP is a very sharp looking scheme.

I for one am getting back into z scale mostly due to the northern pacific rs-3’s. I received mine and it looks fantastic, so much detail for the size.

I wanna know why it’s not running slow, so you had to change CV2 to a high start number ?!? Did it not run good on DC (pure DC, not PWM DC)?
