The last post in this thread (I hope so). Finally, I think there are only 3 hoppers suitable for 1965 (or at least for the 60's), concerning the type and paint scheme (and company name) : This one (or the other road number) This one (maybe ? It would be the only ATSF in my roster) And that one (or the other road number), but 18 ribs OR AM I TOTALLY WRONG, AGAIN ? Alberich the "hair-splitter" How many hairs are you willing to split? General notes applicable to all Z scale covered hoppers 1) Covered hoppers built prior and up to 1965 had high-mounted handbrakes. Speaking for myself, this is a compromise I'd willing to make in Z based on the limited options...but not so much in N, and definitely a deal-breaker in HO. 2) The ACF Centerflow design had changed from "cylindrical" (like the Full Throttle covered hopper) to "tear drop" (like the three AZL cars) by 1965. Early centerflows had a lower and larger single stiffening rib like the AZL 2 bay car, later cars had the higher row of three smaller stiffening ribs like the 3 bay and 4 bay cars. Speaking for myself, this is another compromise I'd make in Z for lack of other options. On a related note, I'd definitely take a look at the Full Throttle covered hoppers for 1965 in addition to Micro-Trains. On another related note, I upgrade my Micro-Trains covered hoppers with Full Throttle trucks whenever possible - the overall dimensions on MTL trucks are "scaled down" a bit, and the Full Throttle trucks help reduce the excessive ride height and coupling distance between cars. Metal wheelsets and no "slinky" action with the couplers are two more perks of the FT trucks. 3) Pullman-Standard didn't build any "high hip" cars like the later 4427's, 4740, 4750 until 1966. In addition to the "low hip" cars being "low hip" cars (if that makes any sense...), the ones built by PS also had "missing" ribs between the individual bays. Speaking for myself, this would drive me bat💩 crazy in any scale. (Comments about the 3 individual cars in the links to follow)

Alberich the "hair-splitter" (Continuation from my last post) Link #1 - right off the bat, GN Big Sky Blue was not introduced until 1967. If you could live with the fact that these GN cars were built in 1967, they were delivered in gray paint that wouldn't stand out like a blue thumb...assuming they are available in this paint scheme... On a related note, there is a lot of good info re: GN covered hoppers here: greatnorthernempire.net/index2.htm?GNEFreightCars.htmLink #2 - Santa Fe "billboard" scheme is from 1972. ATSF covered hoppers in 1965 would be either the same mineral red or gray, but with the small ATSF herald above the reporting marks: www.railgoat.railfan.net/other_cars/atsf_cars/atsf_class/gondola/ga-174.htmFor what it is worth, ATSF did have small number of ACF 4650's built in 1965: www.railgoat.railfan.net/other_cars/atsf_cars/atsf_class/gondola/ga-150.htm3) The closest thing CB&Q had in 1965 was an order of PS 4000's with a trough hatch vs the standard round hatches on either side of a centered roofwalk. I could only find a pic in BN paint, but it does show these cars differ from the AZL model www.railgoat.railfan.net/other_cars/cbq_cars/cbq_number/085640-085689.htm

So, Murphy said me the best thing would be to forget the AZL cars ... And the only covered hoppers by FT sold single (at Marsilius) would be the TPW (orange) and the Cotton Belt (silver) ! So, I think that, if I want ABSOLUTELY GN cars, the only alternative would be this one or more generally the "Circus Series" ?

ZTrack Resale has some of the 2-bay New Haven hoppers that you were looking for. 😁

Thanks for the idea, I bought both sets and some other items (Susquehanna hoppers), but $55 shipping fees to France, this hurts, and maybe I'll have to add customs taxes ...
