Hans, if it isn't too late, I'm going to stump for NOT doing BNSF Swoosh, but rather BNSF Heritage 1. (H1) The Swoosh scheme on the SD40-2 was extremely limited, both in numbers and in the lifespan for mainline service. The H1 scheme was good for about 3x or 4x the timeframe, and was applied to a much larger number of BNSF's SD40-2's. And while not a major consideration...MTL did the Swoosh on their SD40-2. So there's already a Swoosh SD40-2 in the Z universe, but there is NOT an H1, which many of us want. I get it that there will likely be no comparison between the AZL and MTL models, but it is a little bit more reason to go with the H1. And you've already done the H1 on several models, (GP38-2, GP30, SW1500, and way back the brass Dash 9) and it was an outstanding job with good color, lettering, and overall decoration...so it's not like re-inventing the wheel for you. PLEASE consider making this change. It's not quite as bad of a gaffe as leaving out the H-II scheme for the ES44's, but close.

I would also stump for the earlier version of the NS SD40-2 scheme, for the same basic reasons....but it's such a ancillary loco on my list that saving that money is probably more attractive to me at this point. I'll let the hard core NS guys plead their case on that. If BNSF Swoosh and NS hold, that will mean I went from 13 planned SD40-2 purchases (pre-partial-move back to N) down to 2. The UP scheme is older so it's out for me as well. I might be in for a tunnel motor or one of the -2W's depending on timing. I have a large handful of N locos hitting in the next 2 years too, including the ScaleTrains.com SD40-2's and numerous Atlas Gold-series locos.
And btw kudos on the surprise MKT unit. A little shocked to see that...wasn't sure how well your other MKT stuff did, and....again....MTL did the MKT scheme on their SD40-2. I was always so tempted to model a separate MKT era in Z, but when I dipped back to N-Scale, I fully included MKT as part of my era/locale selection. I have one of Intermountain's beautiful MKT SD40-2's, and a couple of Atlas GP40's on order. My formative years as a fan of trains was spent alongside BN and MKT main lines so that's where I landed in N. In Z I'm still mid-2000's BNSF, but hopefully the MKT units in Z will work out well for you nonetheless.

It will cause delays, something we do not want. There will be many runs with all kinds of variations, so do not be alarmed

It will cause delays, something we do not want. There will be many runs with all kinds of variations, so do not be alarmedI think we were told something similar about the ES44's. Six years later, I'm starting to think we should have, indeed, been alarmed. I wish I knew what was driving the decisions about BNSF with you guys. (dartboard? tarot cards? groundhog shadows?) Missing the most common scheme on BNSF by a long shot with the ES44, shorting the run of the ES44 Swoosh, shorting the run of both versions of the SD70ACe, and now only doing a less common (and already available in Z) scheme on the SD40-2. I'm thankful for the "hits"....GP30, GP38-2, SW1500, Maxi-I's and Maxi-IV's, R-70-20's, et al. But with the mainstays/"big dog" six-axle locos y'all keep missing the target. (SD75's I guess being the one exception) And I'll be thankful for the BN and ATSF SD40-2's. But please, please, PLEASE do something soon about paragraph two. It's beyond frustrating.

The ES44AC and SD70ACe reruns are delayed for reasons we do not know. Hope to have updates a the NTS.

In my best Karl Childers voice: "Mmmmmm, you know all them BNSF EMDs and GEs that flew off the shelf? Reckon the recipients of them wouldn't mind a SD40-2 in BNSF H1 paint." That's one sharp looking prototype. Just don't bump the Southern high hood. 😆
