I seem to recall that AZL made a vague announcement that F7s (a logical extension of the F3s) would be produced. Is this still in the plan? Short term? Long term?

Yeah, I remember that too. Still waiting on NP Lowey Green F3's or F7's to match all the NP Passenger cars I purchased last summer. The moment of release I immediately bought every number of every carstyle, but several hundred dollars later and much to my horror... No locomotives in that paintscheme announced. MTL widebody coffee grinders not an option.

Robert, AZL has the F3s with their heavyweight set. Just the A-B units are shown on the AZL Direct site too.

I have that complete set too, having purchased 2 of the AB sets, and the complete heavyweight set. They are however, only a match for the older, and ugly butterknife paintscheme. But it's NP, so I needed a set. Also, NP ran ABA sets of F units, because they handle better through the mountains than an AB set of E units would, so I had to get 2 AB sets to make 1 train of the old NP Butterknife. The lightweights are in the 2 tone Raymond Loewy scheme, which almost every Northern Pacific fan agrees, is the most beautiful paintscheme ever applied to a passenger train. Raymond Loewy was an industrial designer in the Art Deco era who companies paid big bucks too, in odrer for him to design their buildings, shroud and streamline their trains, and come up with their paint schemes. The NP was loosing ground to other roads for many routes due to all the fancy paintschemes being applied to the Hiawatha, and Empire Builder trains, so NP hired Mr. Loewy to ride their North Coast Limited across the country, and come up with a paintscheme that would best suit it. After riding through Montana along what is arguably the most beautiful scenery in the United States, the 2 tone green scheme was selected as the Northern Pacific's paintscheme, which it wore from 1954 till after the BN merger. We need this beautiful paintscheme in and ABA set of either F3's or F7's from AZL

Yes the F7s are coming. Since we still are in a ramp up phase with the new factory projects take longer even if we have the tooling in place as is the case with the F7s.

Thanks for the update. It's good to know you aren't having to start from the beginning.
At this point, I guess that leaves only the passenger combine as the only previously announced project that hasn't been updated.
