Just curious... what made you switch from European to US trains and why Arizona. You did a great job modeling the buttes and mesa.

Neverland I was bored by my N scale trains going around and around with poor possibilities for operations. I have tried to design a new layout, but I soon realize that I had not enough room for my project (too tight curves) So after a while, why not Z scale. Marklin was not an option with theese horribles hooks, and the price!!! After watching a video of the Baz boys layout: it was clear that I wanted to do that. long trains, flashy locomotives. Then Google is my friend, ....
and Arizona: Sedona, Antelope canyon, meteor crater,... : so many places I want to visit (I Have planned a couple of weeks this spring, but the COVID has arrived)

But you really need to take the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the canyon. One of the only railroads running on cooking oil! Try to stay overnight at the canyon. The day trip is just too rushed to enjoy.

Thanks for the nod. Desert scenery or California golden hill make for fast, easy, cheap scenery. Nice blend into the mountains Can almost feel the 2% grades

More great work. Thanks for sharing.
Is that cantilever signal from TrainCat or is it custom? Looks awesome. I'm looking for a similar one. Planning to use one of Hobo-Tim's more modern one if I can't find a TrainCat or similar. (as an aside, just noticed Z-Scale Monster has another run of the HoboTim signals if anyone is interested. They are very nice.) I'm not even sure that TrainCat ever sold them, another reason I'm curious about your pic.

At the 2011 NTS in Sacramento, TrainCat had dozens of 24” square brass sheets of z scale, waiting to be turned into kits. I would think that he would still have much of that material remaining. In a related thought, I see that Monster Z has recently added a number of metal signal bridges from HTT.

markm TrainCat has been on hiatus ever since his wife passed (2014-2015) quite a few years ago. And his products have been sold out all over the place for at least 5 maybe 6 years now.

For Z signals You can contact Tabear on Shapeways, for me he modified some of his N-scale signals to Z-scale ; here You can see the result :
( I added concrete pedestals, custom designed by me with Sketchup and printed at Sculpteo)
