I love the Marklin Z Commodere Vanderbilt loco! Sadly, I missed it when released for sale. Some time ago I enquired at Marklin about a potential re-release, but they answered it isn't foreseen in the near future. My impression is that the crisis that nearly put an end to Marklin 10 years ago, combined with superlative offering of American models by US manufacturers (like of course AZL), spelled death for Marklin American themed rolling stock. Paired with the new lightweights this little loco is a real beauty :-)

Every once in awhile, a Commodore Vanderbilt will pop-up on Ebay, but they're not cheap.....

Sorry for the off-topic, but for those who still did not give up on getting a Commodore Vanderbilt - it is on eBay now, in Austria. The price is high, but no one expected a bargain: www.ebay.de/itm/224539029034Greetings, Alex

No, surely not, I am not in Austria I will never sell my one. However, even if it ever happened, I would sell it for even a higher price, since I put a lot of efforts in my copy - equipped it with sound decoder, front and tail LED lights, an even with a new coreless motor.

Thanks, Alex. Glad you’re keeping yours. I liked your write-up of your project. David did a sound upgrade on one of mine. I wouldn’t sell that one, either…
