Furthermore I consider undec samples of these locomotives will be a must. Dom

So on to our Saturday new announcement. A project that we have worked on a long time and it is finally entered the tooling stage. Actually two locomotives: EMD SW1000 and EMD SW1500 They will be correct to each road name which means correct headlights, number boards and trucks. Expect Spring delivery if testing phase goes according to plan. Finally! :-)

And I'm back in Z!
Time to design a new layout!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! A nice shelf layout, with a city setting, and nothing but switching industries. Milwaukee Road, of course, maybe in Seattle......

BTW one will have to consider swapping couplers with MTL’s. A switcher is made for switching, and in my opinion hand-off switching is a must. And as far as I know the only coupler allowing that is MTL’s. But anyway, a factory made RTR switcher is ‘‘a big leap for mankind’’ (at least its Z-scale minded part), if one wants to paraphrase the words of a renowned man some 50 years ago about whom many people speak these current days. I'm still waiting to learn some of the operating details of the units.
Will they continue with 12VDC motors?
Will they be DCC-able?
And finally the wild wish list:
Might they have an electronic coupler?

The SW series of switcher is pretty cool that AZL is gonna' be doing those, but that MP15AC on the right is my dream loco, in Milwaukee Road!!

Some short answers. We are now using the same 12V motor across the board. Will also apply to RS-3 and SW1500 locomotives. There is not enough room for existing DCC decoders from TCS and Digitrax. We will push for a new smaller decoder, but we do not the outcome to this yet. AZL do not plan on making an electronic coupler at this point.

Hi Hans, thanks for the updates and for the great products both delivered and announced. Can you provide any updates about the Maxi-I doublestack cars, such as roadnames, info about the associated containers, price, and possible updated schedule for release? I'm particularly interested in the actual roadnames that will be released, and especially if both BNSF schemes will be done. (swoosh and circle-cross logos)

For the SW1500 I am curious about road names and the couplers/pilot. From the drawings shown, it is a bit hard to tell if the couplers are truck or body mounted. I’m sure a lot of people intend to replace the coupler for switching.
I’m saving money for that Zephyr too!

Neat Video! I spy some custom painted CCT diesels. Anyone have details on those? Decals available?
