Of course, I have to ask, too, Hans. What month for the beautiful Delaware and Hudson, realizing it could change? I'm busy redoing my layout for the 60s/70s and want to know, so I know how fast I need to spend my money and wear out my fingers. I won't bother you for Phase 2 RS3 release dates. Yet. Dave

Hans, we appreciate what you, Rob, and your team have created here. This has been a very exciting year for z scalers, and it looks like the excitement will continue for a good while! Thank you.

There seems to be quite a bit of variability in the actual Alco units as to which side of the locomotive the 3 panel cab windows were on. With the AZL model, is it possible to rotate the cab 180°? Or is the cab designed to only go on 1 way?

I realize this is really a long shot. Would the 3-axle trucks of the RSD-4/5 be swappable into a GP7/9 chassis with the goal of making an SD7/9? I don't own these yet, so I don't know how "out there" this question is. Thanks.

Oh, I just noticed the wheelbase of an SD7 is actually longer than a GP7, so it wouldn't be that simple even if it works. Well, if it would work it might open up some other possibilities anyway.

I will revisit the issue of turning the cab 180 degrees later. I am away from my office for two weeks and need to look at the CAD files. Also, based on the RS/RSD sales results we could add more products from this time period. Freight cars or maybe even the above mentioned SD7/SD9.

I just noticed the SD7 is only 5 feet longer than an RSD-4/5. So one possibility for a near-term solution for a SD7/9 is I'll just use the RSD-4/5 chassis as is with a custom shell. If AZL would eventually make SD7/9's, I'm sure it would look better than what I would do for a custom attempt. Thanks.

I would purchase all #s of SP SD9s. Backbone of the NWP roster. Bloody nose scheme please.

A note on the cab side windows. It is possible to rotate the cab 180, but it will not align well with handrails and the battery box door will be a little off. During the initial design period I identified 3 different side window configurations. There are always some choices to be made when making a locomotive and we chose to go with one common cab that fit most roadnames. Several railroads also used Bay Windows which we did not produce. Could be a nice aftermarket item.
