Hi friends,

Yesterday Märklin announced Summer 2019 New Items:

Along with other stuff they announced unexpected and a bit weird model - Swedish loco in US Great Northern color scheme.
The prototype is TMY series diesel locomotive of the Swedish private railway TÅGAB. Former Danish series MY 1100.

The story of this locomotive is quite interesting (found on another forum):

"It goes so that the movie director was scared of flying and did not wish to take an ocean liner from Europe to U.S. So painting one Tmy and one T43 (looks distantly like early American road switcher and was engined by EMD, of the Tåg AB (Train corp) fleet, one of the numerous private companies in Sweden, was the solution. Cost was said to be around 1 million Swedish crowns, or around 150'000 USD."

Interesting. Maybe Märklin should consider modeling Sierra Railroad #3, a 4-6-0, which has been in 100s of movies and TV shows. They could do a Hooterville Cannonball from Petticoat Junction. Or they could create some add-on time circuits and do Back to the Future III.
