I sent an email to Anthony asking that very thing. I prepaid for the SD40-2 and if it's in limbo too...

Best, Sven No, the entire amount because that loco was supposed to be shipped in March & then it kept slipping ship dates. I tried to cancel my order but couldn't. Hopefully MTL isn't impacted.

Good luck with finding a new supplier. There must be more to the story, why winding a business down if it is successful? You always find a buyer if profits are good. Maybe not as successful. ould not be the first Chinese company. I had plenty of supplier in my main job going down because they sold under world market prices... Foreigners buying a Chinese company is not in, have to have a local 'Joint Venture Partner' I doubt MTL"s chassis are made in China (again), they got nicely burned last time.

Now I understand why Rapido trains opened their own factories...

Darn, I was hoping for a SW1500 announcement. Shorty conversion it is then.
Partner with Rokuhan. They have the know how, and the motors.

Well, whatever the future holds, I'll be standing by AZL no matter what the outcome. I'm a loyal customer thru easy times and hard times.

I wish you guys the best in finding a new manufacturer, and one that can sustain the quality that I’ve seen from AZL. I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the future.

You also have my support, even if it ultimately means some price increases.
I was part of a startup in Silicon Valley that was one of the first companies to rely on contract manufacturing and this sort of thing is par for the course. Fully half of the companies we dealt with ultimately failed to meet our requirements for pricing, quality and delivery and a few just disappeared.
Perhaps it's time to look at this as cup half (quarter?) full and consider the products that you will have available to ship.
I do have to say that it would be nice if you can still pull off the California Zephyr for 2019: the sesquicentennial of the golden spike and the 70th anniversary of the train itself.

In an earlier post, I said that out of respect for my fellow producers, I would not name other companies impacted unless they had already made a public statement. So far the following have disclosed that the AFFA shut down will impact their releases: (There are more names yet to come.)
AZL Atlas Bowser Bluford Shops ESM Exactrail Fox Valley InterMountain Micro-Trains (N scale FT locomotive only) Wheels Of Time Trainworx
We have made some progress on behalf of AZL, but still do not have any news that is relevant to when we can move forward with our unreleased items. In the mean time, we do have new items in stock that will be released later in the year, and very good inventories of rolling stock, locomotives, and parts. Please also note that AZL's production locations have also included Korea, Germany, and the USA. Not all of our products are impacted by the closure of AFFA in China.
We realize that we have had a flood of new releases over the past two years. Consider this an opportunity to catch up on one of our many recent releases that you missed out on.
Thank you all for you kind words of support. It is very meaningful to me, Hans and Rob Kluz. AZL is strong, will continue and will grow.
Best, -Rob
