Is AZL still planning to do SD40-2's? I know MTL has a release, which at least Z Scale Monster has had problems with, but I seem to recall AZL wanting to do SD40-2's at a future date. If so, is there any update on where AZL stands with a release?

I remember Rob A. running a poll for locomotive development in 2017...EMD SD40-2 came in 5th [EMD SW1500 came in 1st], and him stating that anything on the poll-list would be at least 2_years away from production; not sure how much sway that had with azl_galactic headquarters and the other big-wigs decision's? It's becoming more and more interesting for sure seeing what releases are coming out now and which reporting marks are chosen for production.
As far as MTL goes...there is, or were, issue(s) with assembly/chassis that are being corrected that shouldn't take too long; Anthony's [zsm] order/shipment wasn't the only one affected, it was all dealer's.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I figured the MTL issue was across the board with their SD40-2. I'd prefer to go with an AZL SD40-2 but we'll see how it goes with the MTL version. |

The original MTL SD40-2 is a reasonable runner. Although prototypically correct, mine run significantly slower than MTL or AZL GPs. MTL Joe has already said there are no changes in the current run, so I expect similar performance.

We will get around to the SD40-2 eventually. Of the 3 injection locomotive projects we are working on, one will be announced during the NTS in Kansas City next month. It is not the SD40-2.
