Hi there,
I'd like to know if it is possible to get more spare parts for AZL locos.
-Several parts break easily, like the GP7 Optional pilot with dummy coupler (the pins break when installing or removing the pilot, all of them). -I'd like to create a nicer looking ABBA F3 consist, but I (we) need an extra Optional drawbar for close coupling.
Maybe some of us may need other parts for other locos?
Thanks!
Charlie

Thanks for the link, but those parts aren't available for sell there, that's why I'm asking.

Charlie the pilot with dummy coupler is listed on the page. Here is the link: www.azldirect.com/parts/62000-905We don't have extra drawbars to offer at this time. Rob

Charlie might want to look again...the GP7/9 Series pilot w/ coupler is $13.50; could possibly use MTL link & pin for drawbar or N shapeways with some cutting and filing.

Ok thanks... good for the pilot ..don't know why, I see it via your link, but not when I search on the website... Anyway, half of the problem solved

As for the other half of the problem, could you 3D print your own drawbars? You have a sample to take measurements from. It's only a couple of simple geometric shapes. You could use a shareware program like scad to produce the data. Here filament type 3D printers are available through schools and libraries at cost-of-materials plus time rates. You might even be able to sell a few back to AZL as spares.

I would NOT use FDM printing : let Your parts be printed in SLS, high resolution, at Shapeways ; by the way, I wondered several times if the "Zelatory" adapters were perhaps made this way ? They look like this material ...

Alberich: This is all it is. No details, no precision, maybe a full minute of print time and maybe 2cm of filament. In this case I think Shapeways would be overkill. In another era, I'd suggest two brass washers, some wire and solder, and you can guess the rest. Charlie: IF you can wait a while, I'll be wanting enough drawbars to do the F3A-B-B of the California Zephyr and if AZL doesn't supply enough, I'll print my own and I'm willing to share. Of course if the data for this little gem were to appear on a website, we could all run down to our local 3D printer retailer with a flash drive and ask for a demonstration. Mark

I could get them printed at the Commercial shop behind me.

I would love to see a replacement gear for the PA's they did, beautiful engine just sitting there is a shame.

I also thought about 3D printing, but I don't have any tools for that. Maybe photo-etched brass part would work as well. Thank you Mark, If you plan to build some I'd be very interested! (...Hoping to be able to buy the CZ set and F3 ABB)

I have the design, but let's wait and see what AZL does. IHMO a drawbar should ship with every B unit, although that doesn't solve the AA and ABBA configurations.
While not strictly a spare part, would anyone be interested in the clamshell for the retractable coupler on the front of E units?
