Religious visitors of the cemetry don´t like Diego´s slogan for his scrap yard. But a good lawyer might help ; )

Now I rememer why I stopped posting! The limit of 500 MB and the fact that I can upload 3 attachements but only send 2 made me not happy. I thought I was the only one that had the 3 attachment issue. The 500kb limit shouldn't be a major issue but having to upload only two at a time is a pain.

Before I will introduce my final section to you, let´s have a short view back to downtown Marfa. Tx! For some years I was waiting for the Lamy Station which I planned to use it as a bus transfer station and held the space in front of the fire brigade building open. Close enough to school, train station and old business district. As the announced station was not coming I had to look for an other solution. In the net I found some pictures of Art deco greyhound station with its blue facade and its iconic white elements.

The facade was made out of cardstock and some sparparts from the grabble box. The white rooftop was in former life a bottle cap. enjoy!

Slowly we are coming to an end! The last leg of the layout is under construction. Here, the lower staging yard and reverse loop is already occopied by some trains.

I made a simple board with some LEDs and push bottoms to control the swisches on both levels. The LEDs indicate the occupied tracks in the staging yard. They are activate by Digitrax BD 4s. In order not to forget which train ( = leading loco) is on which track I made a simple memory device with some 4-digit combination locks. On this example the Golden State with E7 #6000 is on track #3. Don´t forget to put the combination lock to 0000 after the train has left!

Paisano Pass is the highest railroad elevation in Texas. Its distinctive rock formations are created by vulcanos, million years ago. I used bark from pines to simulate the ramaining crater rims.

The small trestle bridge in the foreground is the one where the locomotives on the pictures of the real situation ( fixed above the "sky") are crossing the lowland. On the upper right corner you can see the junction with the ATSF branch to Presidio /Tx and then crossing the Rio Grande to Mexico. The ATSF hat trackage rights between Paisano Pass and Alpine / Tx. The SP Line had a siding just in front of the junction.

The ATSF line to Mexico ( now CPKS ) is only a kind of interchange yard on my layout, just to have some switching fun. So fare, my layout is finished but not detailed enough ( e.g. telgraph poles!) For the future I will enhance my DCC experience, develop a timetable for operations and build some steam locomotives.

Amazing. Just amazing. Marfa is one of the most impressive town scenes I have ever seen, bar none.
That combination lock idea is great, btw.

Outstanding video! I loved how you recreated the total darkness of a West Texas night with Sundown at 8:34. Maybe add the Marfa lights to keep things interesting in the dark...Marfa, probably the only town in the world where "In 2003 the town used $720,000 from the federal government and the Texas Department of Transportation to expand that area into the Marfa Mystery Lights Viewing Center, one of the oddest roadside monuments in the state, a giant, circular adobe restroom with mounted binoculars and bronzed plaques." What they don't say is that it is a nice place for trainspotting while waiting for the lights Attachments:

I didn´t payed attention to stop the music at the end of the video. I´m still a rookie on that field. I need to go to school at ptitrainrouge. I admire his wonderful videos

Cool to see you using the Hallmark ornaments in your scrap siding. The variety of passenger cars in your various sidings adds a "through the years" timeline of the ages to your layout.
