Good Friend on here said He would like to see more pictures of the Engine ( sorry but I have not started work on my AZL engines and most of my modification are on Marklin Steam engines) So firs I started with bare Shell . Then came the chase to find the rest of the Locomotive . Lot at time I did not know much about anything Z scale . Learned lot on the way and had contact with Excellent People who helped steer the way. First I still would like to Thank Frank Daniels (Z scale Hobo) For giving me lot of information on Marklin and the what to expect from Marklin company itself. Much appreciated Frank thanks. Research took Many months Especially since Marklin at time had discontinued the Bumble Bee for several years. And majority were way out of my price line. Luckily I found shell on E-bay in like new condition. Yes I paid pretty price for it, but they are even now hard to come by. So I took the challenge. Research Marklin site for pictures of parts and what parts they had left to sell. Not much at all , then went to many Z Scale companies to find parts not much ether. Z scale Hobo , was only one bent over backwards to find information for me. Still not lot parts at all. since it was collector item nothing came up other than buy whole Engine. Frank said find downer Engine similar to chassis of BB (Bumble BEE) The 885 Standard Marklin was closest . I found one over in Germany in not very bad shape and with 5 Pole motor witch everyone recommended to up grade all older 3 pole motor Marklin's. OK that Squared away sort of. then came Tender , Every time I found old type Tender it got away so chose extra I had to convert to Wood Tender not Coal like all Marklin's have. Beat goes on , now to fit the chassis no it's close but not even that close. biggest problem was front notch on 895 did not fit BB shell and mounting Screw was not straight through but off set through the sand dome small flat peace screwed into chassis. Eve though Chassis Bridge was very close just threaded Screw hole was off close to 1/8 th farther back than Sand Cone hole. I hand drilled the Bridge as close to where I though it would be right on but ended up several thousands off. Darn Plan F came up. Time to switch to and another feature I was changing . LED system light . I'm Generation that grew up in the Transistor Radio , My high school was just touching subject when I was Junior so I received early stage of what Resisters where and small amount of voltage in the Transistor Radio set but not much more. so I'm new to that too. Found New friend over in Marklin Z scale forum , David Smith who was planning on doing same thing to his BB Engine. And gave me some pointers and even went out of his way to send me couple LEDs. with correct resistors with instructions. Went that same route only Plan F showed up Couldn't get Shell to fit Chassis with LED 's installed so I put that off till later time when I'm more familiar with them.
