I found this shell on E-bay and thought I'd give it a try to complete it . Many on different Forums said don't bother your wasting your time . Well that made me even more want give it to try. After Lot of trying to track down parts and going back and forth to Marklin in Germany on the net system. That is when first was introduced to Z scale Hob who helped beyond Measure. Took lot of Plans A B C D F - yes lot of F's , But did finally get it back on the Road so to speak . Just wanted to share with anyone trying to Do something many won't even try . I always say you want it Buy it if you can't then try make one . Biggest challenge to the Marklin Bumble Bee -- I'm not really sure why or how the name got to be called that. Challenge was finding the chassis . There are none plain simple as of many years now. Marklin makes couple small parts screw hear and wheel there but nothing even hand rail in front cannot be found . So finding similar chassis that would be close was best I could come up with. Marklin mad many part to this engine only like many other Marklin made. 8895 was close but not quite same it had to be modified in front and mounting shell was not same. The Bumble Bee Shell mounted with offset screw unlike and other Marklin made . Then is when I decided since it could not be made to original that I would modify it to be even better than original. First Cab was enclosed, I wanted more open style like original early steam Engines . So cut back out made new longer Boarding handles on rear. Then thought why not give it LED light in old style lantern. No one make that type in A Scale so decided to got with original lamp case on it. Then thought maybe some one on Marklin forum has done it already and could give some hints. What a find . Gentlemen named David Smith had thought same Idea and had started with drilling out Lamp . Even sent me LED and Wiring description and picture of his lighted bumble Bee engine shell . I took it step father drilled down through boiler into Shell for wiring to fit- did get LED hooked up but got stuck as to how to run it whit shell on ( en- complete idea ) since I spent so much time getting right parts and chassis , Motor , Wheels . Along with few other things. I thought I want to do other things . So LED is still pending. I wanted train to work for Christmas so put everything together and it worked very well with 5 pole motor now much more smooth than old 3 pole. Also never did locate correct Tender so took and extra one and made it into Wood burner like the old Steam Engine of that time. another rover looked Marklin Engineer making them into Coal burner like most European later and yes American engine would become. anyway . I 've found couple AZL shells that I will be attempting to rebuild. Just takes time mostly to learn about them .
