Mark or Dom (or anyone else using Aztec track cleaning cars) ... what is the minimum radius you can use this car on? I see on the Aztec site they say 7.75" which is an R195mm. But, can they work down to R145mm curves? Frank, all: This turned out to be a bit more of a project than I was expecting with some interesting results, so I thought it deserved it's own thread. Aztec has two Z scale cars: a 40' wooden boxcar based on MTL 515 style and a 40' sheathed based on MTL style 502. I have one of each. I ran both cars through a 110mm straight track into an R145mm curve and monitored the result on the convex side of the rail. Interesting results, The 502-based car makes it through the curve with essentially zero (+-2 mils) overlap of the rail: It's hard to see in the image except to note that the Cratex wheel casts no shadow on the rail head. The 515-based car has several mils overlap of the rail: Coming as a bit of a surprise, thinking that all 40' boxcars should be the same, I measured the wheel base of the two cars. The 515 car is about 100mil shorter than the 502, explaining why it's deflected less in a curve. From this sample size of one each, I'm uncertain that the 502 type car leaving the rail uncleansed, but I would suggest the 515 (wood boxcar) for layouts using R145 track. Hope this helps, Mark

And why does "Mr Aztec" (John Claudino) only accept payments via credit cards, and not PayPal ?

And why does "Mr Aztec" (John Claudino) only accept payments via credit cards, and not PayPal ? I didn't realize how bad, until recently, but p@p@l sucks for merchants. The "buyer protection program" is nothing but a shell game. All costs of the agents decisions are borne by the merchants. Some of these agents don't know jack, either. I sell maybe 3 items a year. Since 2009 I have lost thousands dealing with these folks. I understand retail, too. Giving a refund for an item auctioned, as is, for parts only, because buyer says it doesn't work is what I'm talking about. Taking it from your account without notifying you is another. Customers mailing back another item and receiving a full refund for the original more expensive sold item is still another. I'm all about going the extra mile. They're doing it on the cheap ...and with help they hired away from chain drive thru restaurants

I suggest making a phone call to Mr. Aztec as he is a very well-spoken person in the conversations we have had. I am sure he can explain it to you. I highly doubt he monitors message boards for direct questions such as this.

Very nice guy indeed! We spoke yesterday when I placed my order and I provided a link to some of the discussions regarding his product. He is hesitant to join in the discussion here as it is an AZL forum.
Great to talk to too and only doing trains these days!!

Frank, An additional thought: the rail tread on Rokuhan and Peco flex is wider by several mils than the Märklin rails. I don't think I have any R145mm Rokuhan to check, but I'm thinking the margins would be very tight.
